Anguish

A Master's Foundation Ukraine Update

March 2, 2022

So much has changed since our winter newsletter was sent out a couple of weeks ago. Events are rapidly changing by the hour. The eyes of the world are now focused on Ukraine. We are so grateful for the many people who are deeply concerned. The number of individuals and churches who are praying and giving to help Ukraine is unbelievable!

I want to provide you with an update on what The Master’s Foundation is actively doing to help the people of Ukraine as major airports, cities and, civilians are being attacked.

To protect those with who we partner within Ukraine, we cannot use names or places. Much of the communication is now being monitored by the Russians. Here are a few comments that have reached us.

In their own words…

We have need of shelter for us and people who run away from areas of much shelling. Families with children need to be taken out the war zone! Now we urgently need to buy gasoline, a generator, we need blankets, shelter for refugees, food, mattresses, and finances to be able to do this.

As of February 26, 2022, military posts in our area are being shelled, rocket fire is underway! There are many cases of civilian buildings being hit. No one was ready for this war. Our church has now started to prepare hot breakfasts and lunches for the people of the city and the territorial defense of the city - men, and the brave brothers and sisters who transport people to safety during the silence (when the shelling stops and the sirens are not sounding). In many cases, they are rescuing people who are in a state of shock.

We are feeding these people. During the shelling, the church is open and to all people -children, men and elderly women. They are fed and then ushered into the basement. Before the shelling, the sirens go off and during the air threat everyone should be in the shelter with a light and chairs. Meanwhile everyone has the opportunity to pray together and those who believe in God and who doubted but already hope in God.

A generator was purchased, for which we borrowed money. (more are needed) The daughter church from one of the villages has joined in the preparation and delivery of food, and is currently feeding Ukrainian soldiers who are asking for help with socks and food. There is a great need for medicines for the injured civilians (bandages, peroxide hydrogen, painkillers) which, unfortunately, we do not have enough. Food (especially hot lunches, canned food, stews, etc.) is an absolute necessity. Much funding is needed to help relocate the refugees.

What can you do?

• Besides praying for the people, funds are desperately needed to help many of our partners who are taking in refugees, feeding, clothing, and arranging for them to go to Poland or outside the country for their safety.

• Many are fleeing Ukraine from the Eastern Zone, however many are left inside and have tremendous needs as homes have been destroyed, leaving them with no power, water, and lack of food.

• Families with children need to be taken out of the war zone. Gasoline, generators, blankets, houses rented for refugees, food, and mattresses need to be purchased.

We have the ability to provide funds directly to the people who need it.

Ukraine Update

February 25, 2022

In speaking with our partners, several major cities have been hit including Borispol Airport in Kiev. The Military has invaded from the south (Crimea), West, North & South. The people are standing strong and really need our prayers and support.. A 40 ft container on route with soup mix and aid now has to be rerouted because of the blockade in the Black Sea.

However, food products can be purchased in Ukraine and we are still able to send funds. WE/UKRAINE NEED YOUR PRAYERS AND SUPPORT NOW. You can make your donation through our website on our SUPPORT page at or call our office at 905.602.1350. Please share with all...God bless you!

Summer Camp for special needs

September 28, 2021

There are numerous students at the L'viv Theological Seminary that require outside assistance in covering their expenses, tuition etc. Some are orphans, some are from the war zone and some are from large families. (Masters has supported these causes over the years) Below is an email from one of our partners in Ukraine.

Rest and camps are very important for people with physical impairments. On July 6-10, the graduates of Lviv Theological Seminary held a camp for young people with hearing impairments at the seminary. There were 30 participants of age 15-23. We had a wonderful opportunity to talk in detail about what is the true Christian like.

Taking to account psychological and physical issues of the participants, we had Bible lessons that included discussions about Church, love to our neighbors, and obedience to God. We also discussed topics that are relevant to young people.

We thank God for this given opportunity and pray for abundant blessings on everyone, who made it possible for us and the deaf to have such a blessed time together. We appreciate all this help from Master’s Foundation who create for us this great possibilities to be in camp.

Summer Update

July 5, 2021

COVID continues with its devastating effects but, in spite of it, God is working. In the midst of all this hopelessness, there is hope and God is the source and center of that hope.

It is now the seventh year that Ukraine bears the brunt of hostilities in the east. In this war, over 14,000 have been killed, 1.4 million became internal refugees and the number of those affected stands at 5.2 million. Populations living near the front-line daily face conflict-related hazards such as shelling and mine contamination. Stories come across our desk written by the people that we support, people who visit the needy and the broken. Many of them are heart breaking.

Ark Church Construction Update

June 2, 2021

Due to inflation and other additional expenses an additional amount of $25,000 is needed to complete the finishing touches. State regulations have enforced laws to remove the current heating system housed within the church and relocate to the outside of the church. This includes the reworking of all the electrical, the boiler, heating elements and plumbing as well as the erection of housing for it.

Ukrainians becoming increasingly opposed to vaccination: Resistance rooted in longstanding suspicion dating back to the Soviet era and mistrust in health system.

March 29, 2021

An opinion poll released earlier this month by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology found 60% of the country’s people don’t want to get vaccinated, up from 40% a month earlier.

A great loss for Ukraine

February 24, 2021

As we were preparing our latest newsletter, I received some shocking and devastating news concerning one of our partners. Pastor Ivan Pryadka of Krasnohorivka, Ukraine (ARK Church) passed away suddenly. As you know, Masters was committed to helping him complete the construction of the church, as it served the community from the very onset of the war in Eastern Ukraine. He was a pillar in the community, known to all. From the first day I met Pastor Ivan, our hearts were knit together. He was a man after God’s heart, a man of humility, compassion, integrity, a true servant of our Lord.

Masters is still committed to Ark Church. We covet your prayers for the family especially at this time- and for the continued ministry (supplying bread, pasta, food packages) to the needy in the town and the surrounding villages.

Stan Watrich and the Master’s Team.

Winter Update

March 1, 2021

As we soon transition from Winter to Spring, Ukraine has not escaped the effects of COVID -19. With shortages of medical supplies, the ongoing war, the worsening economy – all this has given rise to many soup kitchens and food stations. In the cold winter weather, people line up for a bowl of soup and a loaf of bread. While in the comfort of our homes, it’s difficult for us to comprehend this, but it is a reality.

A thank you from Ukraine to our financial and prayer supporters

September 14, 2021

Thank you and your entire team for your open hearts and financial and prayer support! I am sending you photos about our visits to children and the preparation of children for school! Thanks to you, together we were able to help 40 children displaced from the ATO zone who live in the city of Lutsk, we helped 10 children from poor families, visited and donated help to children from a boarding school in Rozhyshche. There are about 100 children here. We also bought diapers, a tonometer (blood pressure machine). We also went to the children's rehabilitation center in the city of Kovel! The children are very grateful, the directors are very grateful, all the children wanted to hug you personally! ❤ In this very difficult time, we thank you for not staying away! We bless you with the name of Jesus Christ! We pray for you! Special thanks for helping us pay for the four months rent for the gym! Thank you very much! We are looking forward to your visit!

With grateful hearts and love, Dmitry, children and team!

A great start to "Good Morning Ukraine"

February 8, 2021

In February of 2020 Master’s launched a YouTube program with Pastor Fedir Lebediuk of Lutsk, Ukraine called “Good Morning Ukraine.

The success has been overwhelming! During 2020 approximately 200,000 viewed this program. One week had over 40,000 hits. 26.3 % of the viewers were in the 18-24 age bracket, 29.7 % in the 45-54 age bracket. 63.7% viewers were from Ukraine with 14.8% from Russia and others from Kazakstan and Germany. We covet your prayers and support for Pastor Fedir in this venture.

Thank you Glendon Alberta once again!!

September 1, 2020 / It took five months but the box of goodies finally reached the girls at Nova Borova Orphanage. Socks, slippers, pens, pencils and ribbons were an absolute delight. Thank you Glendon for providing these items which will enable the girls to continue creating their needlework and dolls as well as keep them warm with these specially knit "Glendon" slippers.

Popcorn, Nectarines and Ambulances?

July 16, 2020 / Because of COVID, picnics could not occur for the children at the Nova Barova Orphanage. To bring a little happiness to the orphans during the quarantine Masters provided fruits and vegetables. A popcorn maker was also donated.

Unconventional times call for unconventional methods as an ambulance was used to get the fruits and vegetables delivered to the orphanage. There were many smiles among the 90 plus children who enjoyed the treats – especially the smell of freshly popped popcorn. Thank you for helping to support the ministry to some of the many orphans of Ukraine.

Kids and Potatoes

June 2, 2020 / The families of the “Hearts of Love” Charitable Foundation are extremely grateful to your organization for the opportunity to receive extremely tasty products from Canada.

We waited a long time and prayed that the Lord would help us go through all the procedures at the border and that there would be no obstacles to transporting food for those who need it so much. After all, so many people have worked to grow and cook with love and diligence, investing money, time and work. Cooking dishes seem even tastier from understanding this.

This extraordinary care of the Lord for his children reveals even more the character and love of the Lord. Our prayers of thanksgiving to the Lord for all who care so much for our children.

The children in our Center really enjoyed the potatoes, which they eat with great speed and good appetite. From the vegetable mixture we prepare vegetable stew, which is nutritious and tasty. Some children eat vegetables raw, choosing what they like best. We use dried fruits to prepare a drink that is useful and tasty.

Having received food, our problem with food in the center has decreased. We used to buy food at the expense of parents, now this burden on families has decreased, it is especially important now when the families we take care of count every kopek. This is a very difficult period in our country, and it is now that the Lord has cared for children. This is extremely touching.

Most of the products we received were left in the Heart of Love Center for children's nutrition, and some were given to the families who are most of all in need. Our mothers express their gratitude and best wishes to all who care for our children. !!!! May the Lord bless and fulfill all your needs.

With Love "Hearts of Love"

Update from our PARTNERS IN UKRAINE...

May 5, 2020

  • Pastor Bohdan Mudriyevskyi, Ternopil – Pastor Bohdan who also is an owner of a children’s clothing factory; to keep his people working has started to sew masks in order to supply the endless need for them. Yesterday he advised us that he has received a special permit, so now he is able to sell his production at the pharmacies and medical institutions, keeping his staff and workers employed. How God provides!!
  • Pastor Vova of Church of Love, Ovruch – told us there is much suffering because of forest fires in the Chernobyl area. Many have lost their homes and are without food. Praise God, he had a large quantity of bags of soup mix to hand out. People came to him with tears, but left rejoicing that they could have something to eat. Sadly because of the quarantine, they are unable to visit Vilnicky seniors home.
  • Sasha & Vadim of Novomoskovsk - our dedicated couple in Eastern Ukraine can no longer feed people at the city center in compliance with the police. BUT she says, ”we cannot forget the POOR and NEEDY people”. As a result Sasha is preparing food at home & people are visiting her residence just to get food. So many depend on her for their daily meal.
  • Pastor Ivan & Vera of Krasnohorivka – In regards to the building of the church all is at a standstill because of the quarantine. They continue to visit the elderly, poor and sick providing them with bags of pasta and food.
  • Pastor Fedir Lebydiuk – Host of “Good Morning Ukraine” YouTube – says the response from the viewers is amazing and growing daily. As one person stated…"I am so grateful for this moment in time, for I recall a time we were told not to attend services or listen… there was a time when intellectuals, teachers, religious leaders & Christians were forced to attend atheistic teaching that denied the resurrection…and now we have such freedom to listen to God’s Word."
  • Prayer requests - Please pray for Masters, Ukraine and our many partners in Ukraine
  • VIEW video on state of Ukraine's hospitals which are overwhelmed.
